1 2 Half-Real Duncan Graham , 2011 single work drama mystery

'A thrilling theatre work that turns the whodunit genre on its head - by letting the audience take control of the narrative.

From independent South Australian theatre group The Border Project comes "Half-Real", a production that draws on the Zeitgeist of the gamer generation to concoct a new kind of theatre - one that has the audience steering the experience. Casting the spectators in the role of investigators in a murder mystery, "Half-Real" uses the ZigZag controller system (developed by The Border Project with media artist Matthew Gardiner) to have them determine how the story unfolds - as they rewind or replay scenes from different perspectives, enter the minds of characters, and rewrite the significance of events that have taken place. "Half-Real" pushes the boundaries of theatre as it leads us down into a labyrinthine narrative; the audience might be playing detective, but are they, in turn, being played?'
