Rodney Parker is the son of Wobby Parker and Lola Parker (qq.v). His father's land is on the top end of Karijini National Park and his mother's land is down to Rocklea and Paraburdoo. Parker was intiated in the Wamulu law system and married Josie Samson according to Aboriginal tradition.
Parker went to Onslow Primary School and lived at Gilliamia Hostel, but later went to Wittenoom Primary school after his mother and father split up and did high school at Hedland and Karratha. Parker's first job was as a station hand at Rocklea Station. He later worked with a Gardening Service and then for the Department of Conservaton and Land Management in the Karijini National Park. Parker has also worked as an Aboriginal Health Worker with the Mawarnkarra Aboriginal Medical Service. Parker undertook a training program in Perth and became a fully qualified Health Worker. Parker believes there is a relationship between health and Aboriginal customs, culture and land in relation to his people.
