Mirru George's birthdate is unknown, but he was born near the government well on Rocklea Station, at a place his family call Mirwida. His name Mirru is a word from his language that means the tip of the throwing stick. George's father was George Pinda and his mother was Dinah; their traditional lands are Wakuthuni. As a child he did not attend school, but later worked as a musterer at Rocklea and Kooline Stations. George married an Aboriginal woman named Maybee. His brother is Listen Listen James.
