BiographyHistory

William Warmdean is a Noongar Elder who has been a committee member on the Wheatbelt Commision of Elders and also Chairperson for both the Wheatbelt Aboriginal Corporation in Northam and the Derrandee Aboriginal Corporation in Mukinbudin. His parents were Maitland Warmdean and Mary Frances Pilkington and the family lived in Guildford until his father's death, when they moved to Northam to live with William's mother's brother. After his mother met Charlie Ryder, they moved to Maylands where William attended school until the age of twelve. At fifteen he went to live and work for Gumley's Saw Mill at Koojedda Siding. In 1949 Warmdean moved to Mukinbudin and has lived there for over fifty years.
