BiographyHistory

Ronald Gidgup is the son of James Henry Gidgup and Rosy Weir. He grew up on an out-camp - a mustering camp - in the bush on station country in the Carnarvon area. His mother worked as a cook and his father as a musterer on Bullagroo Station.

In 1941 Gidgup and his family moved to a farm near Bruce Rock for work, where they lived on the reserve and where he went to school. After marrying Winsome Little from Roelands Mission near Bunbury, Gidgup spent many years working as a member of a shearing team that contracted throughout the state.
