Aileen Ashwin is the oldest daughter of Jimmy Ashwin (q.v.), a Wongi person from Yalma Station in the Wiluna district. Her mother, Ethel Swan, was born on Corunna Downs Station in the Pilbara in 1920. Aileen's parents met at Sister Kate's Children's Home, where her father became the groundsman and where Aileen and her siblings were raised.
