Daphne Whitehead is the daughter of Noongar people Roy Ugle and Lillian, and had five siblings. She is the second youngest child and was removed from her family at about twelve to eighteen months of age. Daphne and her sisters Phyllis and Margaret, the three youngest in the family, were taken to Mogumber Mission, and then sent to Sister Kate's Children's Home but the sisters were not kept together. Daphne spent nineteen years at Sister Kate's, and is well known for her work as a vounteer at St Vincent De Paul helping young people and families.
