BiographyHistory

Doreen Hill is a member of the Stolen Generations; she was taken from her Granny Lottie's house at the age of five. Along with her sister Hilda, Doreen was bundled into a car and taken away to Moore River Native Settlement. At the age of eight, she was one of the first seven to be taken to live at Buckland Hill and two years later she was sent to Sister Kate's in Queens Park. Doreen saw her mother briefly after being hospitalised in Fremantle after she had been run over. She did not see her mother or father again until she was twenty eight years old. Doreen's daughters are Sandra Hill, a visual artist, and Patricia Hill-Wall.
