BiographyHistory

Lola Young, the eldest of six children, was born on Rocklea Station in the Pilbara area of Western Australia. Her father was Kurrubunha, a highly skilled stockman well known in the Turee Creek area. Young was schooled by her grandparents in bush medicine and culture. She was married to the much older Wobby Parker (q.v.) according to Aboriginal law as Parker's second wife. They had seven children before Young left the marriage. In 1990, Young established the Wakuthuni Community to bring her family home to their country.
