Arif Sadiq graduated from the Punjab University, Lahore in 1967 and joined the public service in 1969, working mostly in education and welfare. Since migrating to Australia he has been working with the NSW public service. He writes Urdu Ghazal and is a member of the Urdu Society of Australia. In 2001, he contributed a short essay on Urdu poetry to the anthology Many Voices.
