Born in Cowra, New South Wales and raised on Erambie Aboriginal reserve Aunty Sylvia Scott moved to Sydney in the mid 1940's to find work to help support her siblings. In 1973, while working with the Aboriginal community in Eora, Sydney, Aunty Sylvia founded the Murrawina Pre-school. In the eighties Aunty Sylvia set up a general skills programs at Petersham TAFE, and worked at the Children's Hospital in Camperdown as the Aboriginal health worker. In honour of her decades of work for Sydney's Aboriginal communities, Aunty Sylvia became a representative of the Gadigal people of Sydney Cove. On 21 February 2011 Aunty Sylvia was given a state funeral in Sydney.
