BiographyHistory

Gould was a novelist based in New York. She was the daughter of the fashion designer Jo Copeland and married to Robert Emery Gould, a professor of clinical psychiatry who was outpoken on social issues. Two of her novels are semi-autobiographical pieces: Mommy Dressing: A Love Story, After A Fashion and Such Good Friends. The latter was banned in Australia in 1970. Gould is included in AustLit because his work was banned or restricted in Australia by the Federal censor.
