BiographyHistory

Born in Chile, Violeta Curiante de Veliz was imprisoned following the 1973 coup for opposing the military dictatorship which had taken control of the country. She migrated to Australia in 1976, settling in Melbourne where she works as a teacher. (From Over the Horizon, p. 101.)
