BiographyHistory

Lady Broome was educated in England. She lived in New Zealand from 1865. She then lived in Perth when, in 1882, her second husband (after whom the town of Broome is named) became the Governor of Western Australia. Broome wrote an account of this period (1883-1889) in Western Australia in Letters to Guy (1885). She also wrote (as Lady Barker) the non-fiction work Station Life in New Zealand (1870).
