BiographyHistory

Sonja Delander spent three years in high school in Berlin, then migrated to Palestine (now Israel) in April 1936 and trained in a children's creche in Jerusalem. She lived on a kibbutz and in Jerusalem until 1942, when she served in the British army in Palestine and Egypt where her work included translating. In Australia she gained an Associate Diploma from the Advertising Institute of Australia between 1952 and 1953 and her Adult Matriculation between 1964 and 1965. She also took a course in feature writing. She has been accredited as a Level 3 translator in German by NAATI. Her major work has been as an advertising copywriter and as a translator. She has been a member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW).
