Ellen Anderson was an Indigenous storyteller and a repository of knowledge for people of the Illawarra area on the south coast of New South Wales. Anderson's great-grandson, Rod Mason, is a ranger with the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service. Rod Mason, who is himself a storyteller, has stated that Ellen was not only a great storyteller but also an important knowledge-holder about the life cycles of plants, animals, seasons and the people associated with them.
