Gundy (Cedric) Graham a Narrungga man, and, writer and poet, was brought up in Point Pearce, an Aboriginal community on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. He had a good upbringing, attending schools, at Maitland Area School, and Scotch College in Adelaide. After he left school at the age of 16, he worked with his father, Clem Graham a fisherman, but after a few months Gundy, went back to Scotch College. For, Gundy his life began spiralled downwards, through drugs and alcohol addiction.

Sometime in the 1982-1983, Gundy was incarcerated for killing a man, and badly injuring another. It was while he was in Yatala Prison, that he began to write poetry.
