1 y separately published work icon Denying the Faith Errol O'Neill , Port Adelaide : Ginninderra Press , 2012 Z1899774 2012 selected work short story A collection of stories emanating from the experience of growing up, living and working in Australia’s third metropolis. ‘Denying the Faith’ and ‘This Clown’ record the fearful impressions of a childhood spent in Irish Catholic suburbia, reflected upon later in life when the fear has subsided but the guilt remains. ‘Going to Kanga’s’ and ‘Suburban Odyssey’ recall the experiences of a taxi driver both fascinated and annoyed by the alcohol-fuelled passengers who helped him make a living in a job that was only meant to be temporary while his real career was being identified. And ‘Throwing Up in Toowoomba’ takes a brief exit from Brisbane, but only for a fraught weekend, to detail the inner turmoil of a young and insecure man learning the brutal lessons of the heart in a period not so long ago. Since the early 1970s Errol O’Neill has worked as an actor, writer, director, dramaturg and producer, specialising in the creation of new work for the Australian theatre. He has published many short stories, written chapters and articles for books and journals on aspects of theatre and society, and guest-lectured in tertiary drama courses. He wrote half a dozen political satires for the Popular Theatre Troupe and has written many plays on aspects of Queensland and Australian history, which have been produced by La Boite, Queensland Theatre Company and other theatres in Brisbane and interstate. 1 6 y separately published work icon The Mayne Inheritance : A Play Errol O'Neill , 2004 Fortitude Valley : Playlab , 2004 Z1115781 2004 single work drama thriller

'A grisly murder, inherited madness, and a family in ruins…

'Patrick Mayne was a poor Irishman who emigrated to Australia in the first half of the twentieth century. Settling in Brisbane, he built his fortune as a butcher, landowner, and town councillor, and left an extraordinary legacy: a deathbed confession of murder that had a profound impact on the lives of his wife, his children and the colonial society he helped to build.

'Inspired by the book The Mayne Inheritance by Rosamond Siemon, Errol O’Neill has crafted a taught psychological thriller that reverberates through several generations of the Mayne family and the society they generously supported.'

The play is set in several parts of Queensland, notably Clermont, Rockhampton and Brisbane during the six months of the strike. The passions and the conflicting ideologies of the time provide the dramatic interest in this play which is as much about the battles between the factions and personalities of the labour movement as it is about the war between capital and labour.' — Appears in: Challenging the Centre : Two Decades of Political Theatre : The Work of the Popular Theatre Troupe, Order By Numbers and Street Arts Community Theatre 1995; (p. 229-257)

'A 55 minute show about the history and present threat of nuclear war and the evils of militarism. Set in the metaphor of an insane asylum, the actors played a series of terrifying characters which arose out of their "MADness"...The military-industrial complex was analysed and, towards the end of the show, all pretence at satire was quite purposely dropped for a dramatic monologue based on extracts from Wilfred Burchett's post-Hiroshima journalism and from the book on Hiroshima by J. Hersey.'
