In 1933 The Huon Times was renamed The Huon and Derwent Times, with the change coinciding with an additional section within the newspaper targeting readership in the Derwent Valley region. Publication was suspended by the Board of Directors in 1942 when wartime rationing made publication too difficult. The hope was that due to it would be reinstated at the resumption of peace.
