BiographyHistory

Journalist.

In 2006, while working at the Newcastle Herald, McCarthy began writing about institutional child sexual abuse, including in the Catholic Church. Her work has been credited as influencing the establishment of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
