'This evening the novelist, Mr. H. G. Wells, will preside at the inaugural dinner of the P.E.N. Club, members of which - according to the rules of the Victorian branch - have to have had published at least one book. Mr. Wells is the world president of the club, which is a flourishing concern In London, and has a large number of members, both men and women. Only fourteen Victorian women have joined the club, and there remain very few others who are eligible....'
