The Yellow Hawks, a band of Chinese bandits, are terrorising the region around Shanghai, but are closely pursued by the British Grenadier Guards and the mysterious Mallory. The fearsome leader of the bandits plans to send his daughter, Lotus Flower, to spy on the English soldiers, but while there she is reunited with Virginia, a close friend from her boarding school days, and she must must choose to betray either her father, her lover or her English friend.
