'Kate has the potential to save the world. Some would rather she destroy it. Is quirky muso Kate becoming an angel? And not just any angel, but the one everyone’s been waiting for – the one to reconcile fallen angels with their Creator and save the world from certain destruction.

'There are benefits to this possibility. James is one. Ethan, his twin brother, not so much…

'Darkness is shadowing Kate and many have great expectations of her. She’s only just met Nick, her biological father, but he drinks like tomorrow might never come and when he advises her of his family’s supernatural background and the potential disaster looming, she is soon considering joining him in slurping down a bucket of something amber-hued and running blathering into the night.

'The first book in The Last Anakim Trilogy, Awakening explores the mysterious events at the time of Kate’s conception and the passionate, but forbidden relationship between Kate’s biological parents. It builds the readers’ insight into the strange circumstances of the past, as well as Nick’s unusual Anakim family, and offers an understanding of who Kate really is and why she offers the hope she does.

'Will the babe born of light be infected by darkness, or rise up in triumph? ' (Publication summary)

'James and Ethan are Anakim, fallen angels who yearn for reconciliation with their Creator.

Their unabated longing for Him and regret at things past motivates them to strive, albeit imperfectly, to do what they were initially sent to earth to do: to watch over and protect humanity, although this is not without complications. Because of the nature of their fall, passionate love, for instance, can trigger terrible consequences.

'Nick has appointed them to protect Kate from the danger which has come to her through him. The Watchers, fallen angels who rule over the spiritual darkness of the world from their place of imprisonment within it are coming for her, courtesy of the fact that she may just be the very last Anakim, and therefore the conduit they have been looking for. Whilst their influence grows they are still in need of a channel through to the earthly realm from their prison within it. That way they can fully defile what God holds most sacred... humanity.

'Kate might just be the one everyone is waiting for, for much has been foretold of the powers the last Anakim will inherit.

'James and Ethan are not about to let her go.

'James is slowly falling in love with Kate. Objectivity is becoming a challenge. Although she doesn’t fully trust him, and feels resentful of his over-involved position in her life, Kate is drawn to him from the start. It is clear that Ethan disapproves, and she slowly realises why as their passion draw them together and things spiral out of control.' (Publication summary)

'Kate’s transformation is becoming more apparent. Her abilities reveal the awesome, but also perplexing and mysterious possibilities that are now a part of her reality. Distracted by this new world, she doesn’t at first recognise just how close the darkness is - or what it has stolen.

'Desperate to save Kate and protect James, who is still not himself, Ethan steals Kate away to a place he believes is safe. But when they arrive James is already there, and the last time Kate and James were together they almost destroyed each other.

'As Ethan’s plans unravel, Kate disappears and the darkness rolls in. Questioning everything they have come to believe is the truth, James and Ethan realise that no-one is above betrayal. Now they must race against time to rescue Kate, the very last Anakim, before she is robbed of her light and all is lost, forever.' (Publication summary)
