'Rhuma is a native of Tyrus, a planet on the rim of the galaxy. She was caught up in the fighting there when pirates took over the Spaceport and nearby city, and lost the lower part of her left forearm in the mayhem that followed. Terry McKeag offered her passage to Earth, via the Red Star System, in order to get another one. However, the journey between Tyrus and Earth is fraught with danger, and takes months to traverse. A lot can happen in that time. When Rhuma finally returns she is not the same person, and village life is the last thing on her mind.'
