BiographyHistory

Artist Shorty Jangala Robertson was born at Jila (Chilla Well), he lived a traditional lifestyle with his family, travelling vast distances across desert country. His childhood memories consist of stories associated with the Coniston massacre and the shooting of families at Wantaparri, near Jila. During World War II Robertson was separated from his mother, however she came to get him on foot, and together they travelled hundreds of miles back to Chilla Well. In his adult life Robertson worked for different companies in the Alice Springs Yuendumu area, where he settled in 1967.
