BiographyHistory

Jodi McAlister is a literary historian, specialising in popular genres for and by women and girls. Her PhD thesis is on representations of female virginity loss in female-authored popular literature. She has taught at Macquarie University in Sydney, the University of Tasmania, and Monash University in Melbourne.

In addition to works individually indexed on AustLit, McAlister has published a wide range of academic and popular essays on her main areas of research, romantic love and its manifestations in popular culture.

Her first novel, the young-adult fantasy romance Valentine, was published in January 2017, and the sequel is due in early 2018.
