Spanning Three Phases of Women’s Literature—Comments on My Brilliant Career, Zhang Xiuqing , single work criticism
'Based on the theory of American feminist critic Elaine Showalter this paper analyzes a peculiar feature of the early Australian novel My Brilliant Career and discovers that it spans three phases of Women ’s Literature. Through her indefatigable striving for equality between men and women, independent personality and self-fulfillment, the bush girl Sybylla in the novel set a brilliant example for today’s women.' An Exploration of Mary Gilmore’s Concept of Marriage Reflected in “Eve-Song” and Other Poems“, Yunyi Zhu , single work criticism
'A highly-respected patriotic poet and political reformer in Australia, Mary Gilmore did not arouse the reader’s enough interest in and attention to her poetry on love and marriage. In order to have a comprehensive understanding of her poetry, this paper, from the perspective of ethical literary criticism, intends to explore the author’s concept of marriage reflected in some poems on this topic, with emphasis on “Eve-song” from the husband’s ethical chaos, the wife’s ethical dilemma and choice, discloses that a happy marriage is not only based on love, but responsibility and tolerance, and thus, calls the readers’ reflections on problems in relation to marriage ethics and the construction of a harmonious society.'
