BiographyHistory

'Aboriginal man Arabanoo was captured at Manly, New South Wales on 31 December 1788 by order of Governor Arthur Phillip, who had wanted to study the Aboriginal people. He had became known by the colonists, and gave Phillip information about the language and customs of his people.' (Source: Australian Dictionary of Biography website)
