'Set in 1946 in a suburb of Sydney the play explores the themes of dislocation and loss through the parallel experiences of two generations of an Irish immigrant family.'

      The series was introduced by Katharine Brisbane in a piece broadcast on 23 November 1975, and the first play in the series, Peter Kenna's A Hard God, was broadcast on 26 November 1975.
