Notes

  • Editor's note: This was the last article that Geoffrey presented prior to his illness and death early in 2013. It was written in response to a request for a national framing to the Symposium on Theatre in Melbourne in the 1980s that forms the nucleus of this issue of ADS. Geoffrey did not have time to revise the piece for publication, so we have done so with as light a hand as possible. Something of his particular voice in delivery may have been lost in the process, but the breadth of his engagement with and championing of Australian theatre is evident as ever. – MR and JM
