AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Lopate discusses filmmaker Dusan Makavejev consideration and enthusiasm to remake the movie The Blue Light. There was a refreshingly amoral suspension of disbelief to Makavejev's enthuisasm–at the very least, a reluctance to make the usual condemning judgments preferring to exhibit a baffled wonderment of his favorite word "Incredible!" He was an advocate of liberation, especially sexual liberation, but also warned of the violence that could be unleashed when the self-repressive character armor breaks down–or in political terms, when idealism gives way to the urge for domination.'
