Notes

  • The Heart of Midlothian was adapted from Sir Walter Scott's novel of the same name. It was adapted by several writers including adaptations by T. J. Dibdin, T. Terry and W. Diamond in 1819, an adaptation by W. H. Murray in 1824, and further adaptations in 1849, 1862 and 1863. AustLit has not yet established which version was produced in Sydney in 1868.
  • The Heart of Midlothian is included in AustLit because it was produced in Australian theatres during the colonial era.
