Description

This topic aims to introduce students to some of the many aspects of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visual arts and crafts within their social context. The effect of non-Indigenous stylistic, critical and other influences and the pressures of the market-place in the production of artfor- sale will be underlying themes. The topic will be taught in conjunction with talks by visiting Aboriginal artists and curators. There will also be an emphasis on the first hand study of works in the Flinders University Art Museum.
