      Note/s:
      • While some sources suggest that Edwin Boase was the founder of the Mount Wycheproof Ensign, an advertisement in the Melbourne Argus (14 September 1881: 3) names Thomas Boase as the proprietor. When the newspaper was offered for sale in 1885, an Argus advertisement names the proprietor as Thomas Boase (7 March 1885: 12).
