A man and his daughter head to a remote island off the Victorian coast, where they have been promised a share in a wealthy estate after its owner's death. Once there, the father realises that the wealth is based on drug smuggling, an occupation he willingly takes up. Meanwhile, his daughter is romanced by the detective who is on the smugglers' trail.

'The story, briefly, deals with a country girl, who, through force of circumstances, becomes an artist's' model in the city. Later, in the country, she meets a Digger, who is fighting his battle of place on the land. They fall in Iove and there are 'thrillers' when the villain–a friend of the artist's–still pursues her.'
