William Temple Graham arrived in the Swan River Colony (Western Australia) in the Warrior. Pamela Statham in Dictionary of Western Australians 1829-1914 : Volume I : Early Settlers, 1829-1850 describes Graham as a 'former captain with the Royal African Corps'. He was 'granted permission to act as a public notary and also practised as a solicitor in the colony.' In 1830 he was appointed coroner and Justice of the Peace but resigned in 1832 due, Statham reports, to 'quarrels'.

Graham took up land in the colony and had a town lot in Perth. He published one of the colony's first newspapers the Western Australian (later the Western Australian Colonial News) in 1831. The paper ceased in 1833. Later in 1833 he was the printer and proprietor of another short lived newspaper the Inquisitor in West Australia.

Graham named Eliza Clark, wife of William Nairne Clark as a beneficiary in his will.
