BiographyHistory

James A. Gardner arrived in the Swan River Colony (Western Australia) on the Leda from New South Wales on 15 January 1830. In February 1830, very soon after arriving in the colony, he published the colony's first newspaper the hand written Fremantle Journal and General Advertiser. Gardner's endeavours in the colony seem not to have been successful. He left the colony at the end of the year.
