  • Project Team

Australian Gothic is an AustLit research project, managed by the AustLit team at The University of Queensland, with guidance and support from Associate Professor Stephen Carleton, Dr Natalie Collie, and the team at Corella Press (with the kind support of publisher Meg Vann).

The preliminary work for this project was assisted by interns Lucy Turner and Thea Blaskovich, under the guidance of the AustLit team.

Lucy Turner (semester 1, 2021) is completing a Bachelor of Advanced Humanities (Honours) at the University of Queensland with a major in English Literature and unofficial minors in Creative Writing and French. Interested in the subversive potential of the Gothic, she is an avid reader of genre fiction. In 2021, she was part of the team of student interns who published the final instalment in Corella Press' Australian Gothic series.

Thea Blaskovich (semester 2, 2021) is a fourth-year Communications and Arts student at UQ, majoring in Digital Media, Writing, and Japanese. As part of her studies this semester, she interned with AustLit to work on their upcoming project celebrating Australian Gothic texts. She is an avid reader and writer.

Sarah Popham (semester 2, 2022) is completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Queensland, with an extended major in English and a minor in writing. A lover of historical oddities and women's fiction, she focused primarily on Australian Gothic works from the 19th and 20th centuries for her work on the project.

Imogen Whiteside (semester 2, 2022) is a third-year student completing a Bachelor of Arts / Laws (Honours) at the University of Queensland, with an extended major in English Literature. Her interest in reading began from a young age and she has only continued to nurture her love of literature. Her most recent exploration has been into the mutation of the Australian Gothic into the Climate Gothic.
