After completing a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lanzhou University, and a Masters from Beijing Foreign Studies University, Jing Han emigrated to Australia. Dr Han completed a PhD in English Literature in 1995, Sydney University.

Han is a translator of subtitles of Chinese films and television programs for Australian audiences. She teaches translation studies at Western Sydney University, where she is also Director of the Australia-China Institute for Art and Culture.
