Romas Brandt Kukalis (also known simply as Romas) is a Canadian-American painter. He was raised in Connecticut and trained at Paier College of Art where he graduated in 1978 and immediately began working for book and magazine publishers in New York City. Throughout his career he has produced countless covers for books of speculative fiction, some of the best-known including Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Darkover series, Anne McCaffrey’s The Rowan series, and the popular Chronicles specialty books related to Scholastic Books’ YA Animorphs series. He now lives in Keene, New Hampshire.
