'In the end Mum makes me go, telling me I've become a recluse during the seemingly endless first week of January. A visiting mate from Melbourne has invited me for casual drinks with others at a pub on Boundary. Casual, I'm not. I worry about getting there early, so I sit at the top of the bus interchange and watch the clientele coming out from the theatre.' (Publication abstract)
