'A visual poem dedicated to the families of the 3500 homes lost in the 2019-20 Australian bushfire season. In contrast to the widespread media coverage this natural disaster received, this is a reflective and topical piece, an interesting firsthand account of a tragic event depicted through wonderfully detailed imagery of almost total devastation. Aerial drone shots over burnt out properties and landscapes are juxtaposed with a poetic narration about what home means, complemented by a dynamic musical score. Unrecognizable piles of rubble serve as a stark reminder of the darkness the land and individuals were plunged into. The simple, yet poignant, words about a man’s life and memories in his family home articulates the horrendous loss so many people endured on many levels, without resorting to tales of woe and raw emotion. A beautiful, haunting and heartbreaking film.'
