'The “Warup” is a significant figure of the Torres Strait. It is considered the sound of the Strait. Today its art and beauty is recognised nationwide, however what is not acknowledged and understood is the significant cultural connection this instrument has to the Torres Strait people. We speak with Kaurareg traditional owner & traditional drum enthusiast; Willie Wigness; and Saybay Island traditional owner and cultural custodian Jeff Waia to give us an insight to the knowledge of the drum.'
