AustLit

The original Australian Colonial Narrative Journalism  project was co-authored by Dr Willa McDonald, with Dr Bunty Avieson and Dr Kerrie Davies, for the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies at Macquarie University.

It appeared on a pilot Wordpress site, funded by Macquarie University and launched under the auspices of the university's Centre for Media History in February, 2015. The original dataset has been expanded in the transfer to AustLit and continues to be a work-in-progress.

The material in the dataset comes from the first and secondary sources cited, including the Australian Dictionary of Biography. Where possible, there are links via Trove to digitised versions of the original articles published in the nineteenth century. The works cited have been chosen as representative of the authors' writings and are not intended to be a comprehensive list of their journalism or non-fiction writing.
