BiographyHistory

'Kim Siew is a Sydney based illustrator and mural artist who works under the name of Akisiew (a-kiss-u).

'Inspired by zine culture, graphic novels, her love of children’s books and the age old art of story telling, her artwork captures characters within a moment, exploring fabled worlds made up of pattern and shape.

'She pulls her images together armed with a pencil, paper collage, or digital techniques. Characters, pattern and pastels adorn much of her work. Larger works on walls are painted freely by hand.

'Aside from her freelance and mural work, Kim teaches workshops in paper art and mural design, dabbles in curatorial work and exhibits. She released her first published children’s book ‘You Make The Dreams’ with Rachel Williams and Peter Warrington in 2014.' (Author biography)

'It's story time, but this book has bad news - as soon as it realises there are monsters in it, it's too scared to tell you the rest of the story! Can you help it feel better? It needs you to rub away its goosebumps, blow away the giant butterflies in its tummy, and fan away the yucky smell the monsters have left behind. A fun and quirky interactive story, with distinctive and stylish illustrations from an innovative young illustrator and muralist.' (Publication summary)
