Allanah Hunt has undertaken a Arts Honours degree at the CQ University, the largest regional university in Australia. As an undergraduate she had received 'highly commended' for her young adult fantasy novel, Lyoness: The Inhabitation, in the national Kuril Dhagun Indigenous writing awards.

She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, UK, exploring affective learning, intersectionality of feminism and Indigeneity, and fan fiction-modelled storytelling. The creative component included a fan-fiction styled novel set in the Marvel (Comics) Cinematic Universe, but starring an Indigenous superhero.
