ALEG
Weekly Report - Week 8, 23 June 2000
What I've done
- Lots of discussion of the IFLA FRBR, especially
about Work/Expression/Manifestation. We're seeking
opinions in the library community about the standing of
FRBR - whether it is a direction we should be taking now,
what the pros and cons are
- Fleshed out non-core
topics and relationships. The Form/Genre classifications
are close to being agreed, although the IFLA FRBR could influence
how we deal with some areas!
- Two meetings with Bella and Marlene from Lu Rees, including
a tour of the archives! I've prepared a discussion paper
on the issues of adding the archival item descriptions
to ALEG here.
- At long last, started doing some work on the screen
mockups. So far, just put in place an infrastructure for
easily creating/demonstrating screen mockups.
What I haven't done but need to do soon!
- Resolve the FRBR issues, finish the draft data model.
- Start preparing for the ALEG Partners meeting in Hobart.
Next week
- Data Model
-
Screen mockups for data entry, exploring options for
entering linking, soliciting lots of feedback!
- Probably in late (10:30) Monday
Summary
-
The data model issues are a bit frustrating, but I
guess it is worth the effort now to decide our response
to FRBR.
