ALEG
Weekly Report - Week 47, 23 March 2001
What I've done
- Loaded BAL works in two lots:
- Works identified by Jacqui and Merja as "new" from their 20% sample of BAL works
- From the remaining 80%, attempted matches on author and title and loaded works without
a title match as new
This resulted in about 5,700 new works being loaded into ALEG. There were some problems
with difference between BAL and LAW names. There are still about 2,760 BAL works to be
manually merged into ALEG, but as we started with nearly 10,000 we are cheerful!
- Minor changes to the editing UI; we had a few problems this week with text being
pasted into the WYSIWYG edit box containing invalid characters, which I think
are now mostly automatically corrected or at least throw up error messages.
- Started writing the system doco and gave Fran Cassidy a walk-through of the
design.
- Lots of minor changes to the output formatting
What I haven't done but need to do soon!
- Add general edits based on XSLT Schema (the Schematron approach).
- Revisit output formatting (especially to show all the newly
added attributes and relationships) and search screens.
- Drama data - work out what we need to store to record a "performance"
- AMLC bib data load
- Lu Rees Bib load (MARC format)
- WA writers data load
Next week
- Implement the review system
- Improve error message contents and formatting
- Load Lu Rees bib data
- Discuss the approach we'll take to the Lu Rees non bibliographic data
- Enhance expression/manifestation selection search
- Remove the test works and agents added during training
Summary
- A great relief to finally get a serious chunk of BAL data loaded. Marie-Louise and I
have drawn up a list of priorities for next week.
