AustLit
Weekly Report - Week 37, 25 January 2002
What I've done
- Subscriber-only access was instituted on Monday afternoon.
Formatting of error messages and access-disallowed messages was "cleaned-up", which resulted in
a problem with the maintenance suite (which expected "raw" error messages).
- Further changes to the customer/group/user maintenance suite - a few new fields,
and better formatting.
- More work on the tagged output and EndNote filters. I think all the
issues raised by John East of UQ have been addressed. Some
prototypes for the user interface used to select output formatting
have been developed and are being evaluated.
- Investigation into a problem with the loading of some AMLC records
spotted by William: wrong author was assigned to some works due to
a problem in the agent name matching algorithm for agents with
a hypen appearing in their name. It seems to have been an isolated problem.
- Formatting of New Zealand place names changed after the addition of
a deep structure to the New Zealand part of the thesaurus, to prevent
showing all the structure on place of birth/death/publication/setting/topic.
- Gillian has had IE6 installed, and there are problems using the maintenance
suite. I've started investigations....
- I was absent on Thursday and Friday
Next Week
- A few (dozens?) dates-as-topics are still lurking in the thesaurus - these should
have been all converted, but perhaps they were assigned between when
I converted all the dates and when the date part of the thesaurus was deleted.
I'll investigate and fix.
- Function to support mass extract of records/scope into XML formatted file.
- Investigate problems with IE6 and the AustLit maintenance suite.
- Design/implement "public view" processing
- Resolve UI issues for viewing/emailing plain text and tagged work views
Next few weeks
- Program to help linking of full text images to works.
- Multiple creation events for a work as a mechanism for allowing date ranges
to be associated with agents responsible for works, eg editors of a periodical.
- Refining NBD Holdings searches.
- Combining searches
