Weekly Report - Week 36, 18 January 2002
What I've done
- User accounting reports in HTML and text format.
- Maintenance activity reports in HTML.
- Tagged output, targetting EndNote,
although the format should be suitable for other citation managers. This
required a few iterations (and probably isn't 100% finished yet) due to
the issues in mapping an FRBR model into a flatter tagged record. Many
thanks to John East from UQ Library for his very helpful suggestions,
testing and feedback.
- Improvements to the customer/group/user maintenance suite.
- Form for suggesting additional Pandora
resources.
- Minor stylesheet changes; custom report for Roger showing top award winners
without bios.
- The system was stable. The Java Virtual Machine hung once
after I restarted it to load new Customer, Group and User classes
(the prime time for hanging seems to be a few
minutes after restarting - if it lasts for an hour or two, it seems to last
forever). The system now checks for a hanging Java Virtual Machine
every 5 minutes and restarts it if necessary. The best hope for resolution
to this problem remains the next release of the JVM, Version 1.4, expected
in March.
Next Week

Next few weeks
- Function to support mass extract of records/scope into XML formatted file.
- Program to help linking of full text images to works.
- Multiple creation events for a work as a mechanism for allowing date ranges
to be associated with agents responsible for works, eg editors of a periodical.
- Refining NBD Holdings searches.
- Combining searches
